Motorcycle Traffic Officers

Our traffic officers attend a two-day motorcycle safety course and a rigorous two-week basic police motorcycle course prior to being appointed to the division. Once selected, officers complete a Motorcycle Training Officer (MTO) Program, where new traffic officers ride with more experienced traffic officers to learn the proper way to operate a police motorcycle on roadways.

Rowlett traffic officers attend at least eight hours of motorcycle training per month in addition to attending various accident investigation training.
