
2023 Arts and Humanities Commission Photography Contest
To encourage participation in the artistic life of the Rowlett community, the Arts and Humanities Commission sponsors an annual photography contest. The contest is open to everyone in the Lake Ray Hubbard area. Professionals, amateurs and people of all ages are encouraged to submit up to four photographs taken within one year of the contest deadline. Entries are judged by a professional photographer, with cash prizes awarded to first place winners in each of the four categories (people, places, things, and phones), as well as for best of show. One entry allowed per participant per category and all works are presented anonymously for judging.
THEME: "Into the Unknown"
CATEGORIES
- People: Children, students, politicians, citizens, etc.
- Places: Lake, library, community center, buildings, DART, Bush Turnpike, etc.
- Things: Boats, automobiles, artwork, nature, bridges, etc.
- Phones: Subject matter must be related to the theme. All guidelines apply except the image size must be 4”x6”.
GUIDELINES
AWARDS
- First Place awarded in each Category $150 and Best of Show $200
- Ribbons for Second Place, Third Place and Honorable Mention
- Cash awards presented to First Place and Best of Show winners at a City Council meeting.
- Publicized on the City of Rowlett Arts and Humanities Commission social media.

- Friday, August 18 from 3 – 5 p.m. or Saturday, August 19 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
