2. Where can I register my vehicle?

If you are a Rowlett-Dallas County resident, you may register your vehicle at the Dallas County Tax Office located at 140 N. Garland Road in Garland, Texas or contact the tax office at 214-653-7811.

If you are a Rowlett-Rockwall County resident, you may register your vehicle at the Rockwall County Tax Office located at 101 S. Fannin Street in Rockwall, Texas or contact the tax office at 972-204-6130.

3. Which Councilmember represents me?

The City Council serves the City of Rowlett at-large, meaning they represent each citizen and not a single district. For additional information, you may call the City Secretary's Office at 972-412-6115 or you may please view the City Council.

4. How do I find out the appraisal district's value of my property?

If your property is located in Dallas County, you may visit the Dallas Central Appraisal District website or you may contact a representative at 214-631-0910.

If your property is located in Rockwall County, you may visit Rockwall Central Appraisal District website or you may contact a representative at 972-771-2034.

5. Where is the nearest location to renew my driver license?

For your convenience, you may renew or make address changes for you Driver License or Identification Card online on the Texas Department of Public Safety website. 

6. How do I request documents from the City of Rowlett?

Public documents and records, City Council resolutions and ordinances, and other information can be requested by submitting a request through the Citizens Action Center. Historical information that is not available from the City Secretary's Office may be obtained from the City of Rowlett Historical Society. 9. Where do I pay my property taxes?

The City of Rowlett does not accept tax payment from citizens.

However, if you are a Dallas County Rowlett resident, you will receive two tax bills. City taxes and County taxes will be collected by the Dallas County Tax Office or you may reach them at 214-653-7811. School taxes will be collected by the Garland Independent School District Tax Office or you may reach them at 972-494-8570.

And if you are a Rockwall County Rowlett resident, you will receive three tax bills. City taxes will be collected by the Dallas County Tax Office or you may reach them at 214-653-7811. Rockwall County taxes will be collected by the Rockwall County Tax Office or you may reach them at 972-204-6130. School taxes for the Rockwall Independent School District will be collected by the Rockwall Central Appraisal District or you may reach the appraisal district at 972-771-2034.

10. Do Rowlett residents have landfill access?

Yes, Rowlett residents are allowed to dispose of debris, without charge, twice within a calendar year at the Hinton Landfill and Transfer Station located in Garland by obtaining a "Landfill Pass" from the City of Rowlett. To obtain a Landfill Pass, residents simply need to present a valid driver's license and current water bill at one of the following locations: Public Works Department, 4310 Industrial Street Business Office, Annex Building, 4004 Main Street City Secretary's Office, City Hall, 4000 Main Street When using the Landfill Pass, the resident will need to present their driver's license and current water bill to the City of Garland attendant. The Hinton Landfill is located at 3175 Elm Grove Road in Garland, Texas. Should you need to contact the landfill, please call 972-205-3670. You may also view the Landfill Pass Information Brochure.

11. Where can I go to get a marriage license?

The City of Rowlett does not issue marriage licenses. A license may be obtained from any county in the State of Texas. To obtain a license from the Dallas County Clerk's Office or from the Rockwall County Clerk's Office.

12. How can I get a recorded copy of the City Council or Board/Commission agenda or meeting?

13. Can I homestead my property through the City of Rowlett?

No, the City of Rowlett does not homestead your property.

To homestead your property, you will need to contact the county appraisal district in which you reside. For Dallas County properties, you may visit the Dallas Central Appraisal District website or you may contact a representative at 214-631-0910. For Rockwall County properties, you may visit the Rockwall Central Appraisal District website or you may contact a representative at 972-771-2034.

14. Can the City Secretary's Office notarize my documents?

No, the City Secretary's Office notarizes only City document. However, many local banks have the ability to notarize the documents.

15. Does the City Attorney represent private citizens of Rowlett?

No, the City Attorney does not represent individuals in private legal matters. The City Attorney represents the City's elected officials and staff, City departments and the City's independent boards and commissions. The City Attorney cannot give legal advice or answer legal questions for the public.

16. Where can I go to get a birth certificate?

The City of Rowlett does not issue birth certificates. A certificate may be obtained from any county in the State of Texas. You may obtain a certificate from the Dallas County Clerk's Office or from the Rockwall County Clerk's Office.

17. Where can I go to get a copy of a death certificate?

The City of Rowlett does not issue death certificates. Most often, certificates can be obtained through the County Clerk's office in the county in which the person passed away.
